The Opportunity The Finance and Accounting Manager’s primary responsibility is to lead the finance team in its duties and undertakings through maintaining responsible, timely and high-level accurate reporting and financial management in accordance with relevant legislation/standards and Y Northern Territory policies and procedures. The role will identify and implement systems, polices and processes for the Finance function which will improve financial monitoring, accountability and growth across the organisation. The Finance and Accounting Manager will have a hands-on approach in month-end and year-end activities and processes, oversee the finance team and provide support to the Chief Operating Officer as directed. Critical to success in this role is organisation and prioritising of deadlines, the ability to think objectively and engage others in providing input. Key Responsibilities Manage the finance team, providing guidance, mentoring and support. Guide and coach centre and program managers to enhance financial literacy, including guidance with reviewing and understanding monthly finance reports. Lead the day-to-day operational responsibility for the finance function including Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Manage the preparation and review of month-end and year-end activities/processes including Balance Sheet reconciliations, revenue recognition, accruals, processing journals, etc. to ensure all procedures and processes are performed accurately and on a timely basis. Manage the preparation of monthly management accounts (organisation and business unit level) and distribute to Centre Managers and the Executive Leadership Team on time. Identify and analyse technical accounting issues, provide briefing papers with proposed treatment recommendations. Lead, prepare and lodge quarterly Business Activity Statements, Fringe Benefits Tax, and other tax matters ensuring all taxation reporting obligations are met. Qualifications and Experience CPA/CA or equivalent qualifications with current membership. 5 years minimum experience in managing a small team and month-end accounting and reporting processes. Practical and demonstrated experience of accounting systems, audit and accounting standards and related policies. Demonstrated hands-on experience in developing financial management systems and policies. Experience managing the annual audit and preparing annual financial statements. High attention to detail, accuracy, and initiative with exceptional time management skills and the ability to confidently manage and prioritise a busy workload. Strong communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to work and communicate across all levels. High level of confidentiality, integrity and professionalism.
