Position Overview: We seek a highly skilled and motivated Project Engineer, EIT, to join our dynamic team in Halifax, NS, with travel to project sites as required. This mid-senior level role requires a strong engineering background, substantial project management experience, and a proven track record in supporting civil and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the planning, execution, and management of heavy equipment transportation and rigging operations, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive engineering support for civil and infrastructure projects, focusing on rigging, hoisting, piling, earthworks, and concrete execution. Design and implement crane lift and rigging plans, ensuring safety, compliance, and engineering best practices. Develop transportation plans and conduct route feasibility studies to ensure regulatory compliance and logistical efficiency. Manage construction schedules and costs to ensure timely completion of projects within budgetary constraints. Oversee vendor selection, equipment procurement, and material requisitions, ensuring optimal alignment with project requirements. Collaborate with the senior engineering team to review and assess engineering designs, ensuring project goals are met. Perform load calculations, stability analysis, and risk assessments to mitigate potential safety issues. Conduct quality inspections to ensure project work adheres to engineering specifications and standards. Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of heavy lifting and transportation operations. Coordinate stakeholder meetings and facilitate collaboration between internal teams, clients, and external vendors. Manage contract administration, ensuring compliance with terms, conditions, and regulatory requirements. Conduct economic and environmental impact assessments to guide decision-making on project feasibility. Oversee labor, equipment, and material resources to optimize project execution and cost efficiency. Provide technical support during the commissioning phase, troubleshooting issues and ensuring proper installation of equipment. Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure continual improvement. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or related field) is required. A minimum of 2 years of professional engineering experience is required, preferably in the construction industry. The Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation is essential and must be obtained from a provincial or territorial association. Proven experience and advanced proficiency in project management software, including Primavera P6, MS Office, MS Project, and Bluebeam, are required. Proven experience and advanced proficiency in design software, including AutoCAD and Revit, are required. Demonstrated experience in developing preliminary CAD drawings. Strong technical and analytical skills, with proficiency in load and stability calculations, risk assessments, and cost control. Expertise in managing project budgets and enhancing financial tracking for operational efficiency. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and best engineering practices in project execution. Must demonstrate experience in managing contract modifications, facilitating negotiations, and contributing to project bidding processes. Skilled in preparing detailed technical reports and presentations for diverse stakeholders. Proven experience in interpreting engineering drawings and demonstrating them on-site with field crews. Wage increases and bonuses will be based on annual performance reviews, with incremental raises and performance pay determined by company policies Benefits Package Offered: Vacation pays 4% of annual salary; Health insurance is available with partial employee contribution; Vacation hours are limited to 80 hours annually.
