An exciting new opportunity exists for a motivated, experienced and proficient accountant to join the Mildura office of Citrus Australia Ltd as our Accountant. About the team With our HQ located in sunny Mildura, and remote staff located in Melbourne and Sydney our team are active in biosecurity, export development, data collection and analysis, industry communications, policy and advocacy. The successful applicant will find themselves working among a passionate, supportive, and talented team. This position is an excellent introduction into the Australian horticultural industry and will support our team to achieve outcomes on behalf of the citrus growers across Australia. About Citrus Australia & the citrus industry Citrus Australia Ltd is the recognised peak industry body representing the nation’s commercial citrus growers. Established in 2008, Citrus Australia is a not for profit company overseen by a skills based Board. Citrus Australia manages projects on behalf of a range of investors such as Hort Innovation and Plant Health Australia to deliver outcomes for industry. The citrus industry is one of the largest horticulture industries in Australia, with plantings in excess of 30,000 hectares with production nearing 1 million tonnes. Citrus is grown in five states and one territory and exports to go to over 30 countries each year. About the role Responsibilities include accounts receivable & payable; payroll; monthly/quarterly financial reporting obligations, P&L, cash flow and budgets; management of project budgets and required reporting, working with project managers, providing reports, analysis and recommendations to the CEO, Board and staff. We are looking for professional accounting, analysis and reporting skills; excellent communication skills; high level organisational skills; and attention to detail. Key Selection Criteria: • Accounting degree or equivalent preferred, but not essential • Knowledge of accounting and auditing practices and procedures • Experience in use of Xero (preferred) or similar accounting program • Ability to confidentially provide accounting/financial advice to Management to ensure successful delivery of results against budget • Experience in developing and applying internal control systems • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to liaise with all stakeholders in a friendly and professional manner • Experience in not for profit industry organisation preferred • Ability to project a professional and ethical manner at all times • Excellent computer skills in MS Office applications, email and internet • Ability to prioritise tasks and to work either as a part of a team or independently as required • CA, CPA or IPA membership, or working toward, desirable but not essential • Demonstrated ability to provide high level initiative • Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures The role is based in Mildura, flexible work hours can be negotiated.
