Reporting to the General Manager, the Accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining the accounts for Cairns Marine and its related entities, including preparation of monthly management accounts, assistance with statutory reporting requirements, and lodgement of Business Activity Statements PAYG Instalments for the group. These duties will be undertaken in alignment with relevant accounting standards, tax laws and company policies and procedures. Duties and Responsibilities: Preparation of monthly management accounts for Cairns Marine and related entities. These reports include Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, Cashflow Statements, Debtors & Creditor Reports; Monthly adjusting journals for Cairns Marine and its related entities; Monthly gain or loss foreign exchange adjusting journals; Preparation of monthly taxation returns such as Business Activity Statements PAYG Instalments, payroll tax and superannuation ensuring lodgement and payment deadlines are met; Review and monitor accounts on an ongoing basis to ensure accurate reporting in accordance with standards and pronouncements of the Australian Accounting Standards Board; Maintenance of material codes, cost centre structures, GL code structure and management reporting structures in Reckon Accounts financial system. Reconciliation of key account ledger accounts and oversee reconciliations performed by other Finance staff; Assist the company’s General Manager and Business Unit Managers with the coordination and preparation of the groups budget process, business planning processes and regular forecasting of results; Assistance in the preparation of the annual financial statements for the company and related entities; Assistance in the preparation of the annual income tax returns for the company and related entities; Ad hoc assistance to General Manager and department heads as required; Assist in the continued improvement of financial systems and procedures; Maintain a high level of confidentiality in relation to all financial information; Actively promote the need to maintain a safe working environment through compliance with the Safety Management Framework and workplace-related health and safety; and Actively demonstrate and endorse the Values of Cairns Marine by showing awareness and respect to our community, company, and stakeholders.
