Financial Accountant Permanent part-time, 2 days per week, in the office $100,000-120,000 pro rata + super This is your opportunity to have a significant impact on a small Australian design and manufacturing business that has a huge heart. At Beparta, we design, manufacture and supply furniture for education, with an emphasis on flexible, learner- and teacher-centred solutions. Throughout our 10+ year history, we’ve been responsible for introducing furniture pieces that revolutionised the Australian educational market. You will be working directly with the financially astute owner/director and key team leaders in a friendly and energetic environment. We aren’t a traditional, conservative, corporate business and you won’t need to work through layers of bureaucracy to get your voice heard. Even our competitors acknowledge we approach every aspect of the business differently, whilst still having strong fundamentals and solid procedures and processes. Your responsibilities will include: Handling all accounting tasks like journal entries, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, payroll, superannuation contributions Preparing and lodging BAS, GST, and other types of statutory returns Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data held internally and the accuracy and completeness of financial information given to external stakeholders Proactively communicating with all debtors and creditors, including politely chasing payments and negotiating with suppliers. Making phone calls as well as sending emails is expected Timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management Managing the month-end and year-end closing process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards Identifying and managing financial risks, together with the owner/director and management team Participating in price setting and discounting conversations, using well-researched cost information Conducting insightful financial analysis on an ad hoc basis, to support well-informed decision-making Upgrading processes, systems, and controls for continuous improvement Your attributes: Clear and professional written and oral communication skills Personable, friendly personality, able to get on well with a wide range of people Ability to receive and give feedback in an open-minded and professional manner Excellent attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to complete regular tasks on time without prompting Self-starting, self-motivating, and self-managing, a solid team player with a great work ethic, who is willing to step up and take responsibility and get things done Flexible attitude, able to adapt to changing environments Your experience and education: CA or CPA qualified Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field Minimum 3 years relevant post-degree experience in a similar role Proven interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trusted working partnerships with a diverse range of people Strong understanding of accounting standards and principles and knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations Past experience working in a company with ISO 9001 Quality certification and ISO14001 Environmental certification will be viewed favourably Knowledge of the Xero accounting platform and advanced Microsoft Excel skills would be helpful Next steps: Send your CV to connect@beparta.com.au.
