About the Opportunity: As a key leader within the Maintenance Team, the Assistant Maintenance Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring excellence in all maintenance activities within the plant's operation. This involves providing leadership and staff development, creating business plans and strategies, and coordinating activities alongside the Maintenance Manager for plants with complex operations and/or large volumes. Attributes We Are Seeking: • Demonstrate leadership in improving health and safety performance, serving as a safety role model, and ensuring compliance with the corporate health & safety program. • Communicate company objectives and collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to establish annual department goals. • Provide leadership and supervision to staff, including hiring, performance reviews, training, and development. • Drive technical solutions and provide leadership to maintenance teams for effective execution. • Manage the department's budget, control expenditures, and align spending with allocated resources. • Coordinate, plan, and prioritize maintenance activities to optimize plant performance, ensuring compliance with regulations and business standards. • Develop business plans to address maintenance and production-related issues, seeking appropriate approvals as necessary. • Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. • Supervise contractors to ensure adherence to facility procedures and contractual requirements. • Liaise with other departments to communicate and execute maintenance plans in support of overall plant goals. • Act as a backup for the Maintenance Manager during their absence. Qualifications: • University degree in Engineering and/or a trade certificate such as Millwright or Electrician. • Minimum five (5) years of leadership experience in maintenance and project engineering, with production experience being an asset. • Manufacturing experience within food-related processing and high-speed packaging systems. • Knowledge of maintenance systems, mechanical & process engineering, electrical, instrumentation, PLC, and SCADA Controls, as well as proficiency in AutoCAD. • Familiarity with sanitation requirements, dairy industry/related manufacturing knowledge, and regulatory codes. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) and business systems such as SAP.
