NATURE OF WORK Occasional need The main and usual role of the employee in this job class is to assist the teaching staff in the preparation, presentation, supervision, and evaluation of laboratory, internship, or workshop work. SOME CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES The person in this job class: • Provides support to students during laboratory, internship, or workshop activities in collaboration with teachers and performs, as needed, the functions of demonstrator, monitor, and tutor. • Participates in the selection of specialized equipment, devices, tools, machines, and laboratory instruments, assembles them as necessary, ensures their operation and rational use, and adapts them to specific needs. She performs calibration, maintenance, and repairs and ensures inventory maintenance and equipment supply. • Ensures compliance with health and safety standards during their use, handling, and storage. She maintains an inventory of safety data sheets in compliance with WHMIS. • Prepares and organizes laboratories and verifies their functionality. She participates in testing, experimentation, or the development of new experiments. • Is called upon to coordinate the work of support staff involved in the implementation of technical programs or operations for which she is responsible and to initiate this staff into the work. • Uses the information and communication technology tools available to her in connection with the work to be carried out. • When necessary, she performs any other related tasks. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education Hold a college diploma (DEC) in dental hygiene or a diploma or attestation of studies whose equivalence is recognized by the competent authority. Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des hygiénistes dentaires du Québec. PROFILE SOUGHT • Knowledge of the operation, use, and maintenance of equipment in a dental hygiene techniques laboratory. • Demonstrate a good knowledge of spoken and written French. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION • Ability to plan work in the short, medium, and long term and manage time. • Ability to work as a team with professors and immediate supervisor. • Ability to quickly adapt to new demands and situations and take appropriate initiatives. • Ability to communicate with students and professors. • Ability to evaluate one's work, methods, and take appropriate action. Possess manual dexterity. All required knowledge and attitudes will be assessed through various tests, including a French test and an interview.
