We are on the hunt for a full time Executive Lead - Finance and Commercial, to lead our finance team based in Melbourne CBD, in a hybrid, multi-location role. For 10 years Good Cycles have been leaders in social enterprise, using the bike and innovation to positively impact the lives of young people, by reducing barriers to employment and improving the communities we work in. Good Cycles is an independent not-for-profit that empowers young people by creating a safe and inclusive workplace, offering employment across our four operational divisions: Good Spaces: Large scale green space and asset maintenance services. Good Deliveries: Specialist inner-city delivered, logistics and sustainability services delivered via e-bike. Good Bikes: Bike retail and tailored micro-mobility services. Good People: Specialist managed workforce partnerships (labour-hire) with values-aligned partners. We are a growing organisation with 180 staff and $10mil annual turnover. Our profits go towards supporting young people who face barriers to employment through our Youth Employment Program and by creating jobs of the future that deliver social and sustainable outcomes. About the Role: Good Cycles is entering a period of transformational change, as we amplify our social impact through organisational growth and expansion of employment pathways for young people. Critical to our 2023-25 strategy is our ‘Growth and Sustainability’ pillar, which focuses on achieving a sustainable business model. The Executive Lead Finance and Commercial will report to the CEO, with accountability to the Finance, Audit and Risk Management subcommittee and Board. As part of the Executive Leadership Team, they will work to deliver on Good Cycles’ strategy and business plan, providing timely financial reporting and commercial leadership whilst leading best-practice finance and risk operations. Responsibilities: Strategic leadership of Finance and Commercial Operations, with oversight of the following: Organisational Strategy: Collaboration with CEO and Executive Team to drive organisational Vision, Purpose, Strategy and Growth. Business Strategy and Planning: Development and implementation of business planning that aligns with short- and long-term strategic objectives. Financial Planning and Analysis: Budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, financial modelling. Finance Team Leadership: Direct reports currently include Finance Manager, Management Accountant and Bookkeeper, to deliver: Financial Reporting: Financial management reporting for internal and external stakeholders. Financial Operations: Accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, asset management, general ledger and grants accounting. Treasury: Cashflow, liquidity, investments. Compliance: ATO, ACNC and other relevant regulatory obligations and compliance, including insurance Contract Management: Commercial contract negotiation, implementation and registry. Merger and Acquisition: Due diligence, analysis, modelling and negotiation. Operational Governance and Continuous Improvement: Delivery of a clear operating model to support organisational performance, including use of data to drive continuous improvement. Risk Governance and Management: Risk management, including framework and policies. What do you need? Strong relevant experience (5 years plus), skills and qualifications; including experience in executive leadership of finance and commercial functions, relevant finance/accounting qualifications (ideally CA/CPA); additional qualifications in related areas such as business administration, law or management would be favourably viewed. Proven track record in financial leadership; including financial planning, analysis and reporting as well as the use of appropriate systems and software to deliver financial operations, treasury and compliance; and the ability to work accurately and meet deadlines. Proven track record in leading commercial strategy including contract negotiation and implementation; and the ability to align with organisational priorities and purpose. Experience in leading organisational governance, continuous improvement and system/process transformation; and the ability to diagnose and foresee problems and opportunities. Experience in the implementation of frameworks and policies for managing risk; and the ability to manage risk with a forward-thinking approach to growth and efficiency. Proven ability to work productively as part of a multidisciplinary executive team and strong alignment with Good Cycles’ organisational culture. Strong ability to think flexibly and work adaptively, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and data-driven mindset that translates into performance metrics and organisational leadership. Familiarity with social enterprise and/or experience across not-for-profit and for-profit sectors is ideal.
